Botox/Dysport Care Instructions

Botox/Dysport/Xeomin

Pre-Care

Before your treatment, it’s important to have all the right information at hand. For starters, this treatment is NOT recommended for anyone who has to be looking their best for an event in the two weeks that follows, due to potential bruising. For one week prior and after the treatment, you should also avoid any herbal supplements like Glinko, green tea, or other anti-inflammatories.

The treatment itself is expected to last anywhere ranging from 3 to 6 months. After that time, you are eligible for a re-treatment when necessary. And remember, regular injections can yield a longer lasting effect for Botox and Dysport.

Post-Care

Following the procedure, there’s a very specific list of instructions that you’ll need to follow. Starting off, you have to remain upright and perform facial movements in the injected areas periodically for 5 to 6 hours. This works the Botox or Dysport into the specified muscle. We also recommend against doing any heavy lifting for the 4 or 5 hours that follows, as well as not touching the injected areas for 6 hours. You should also avoid any products that might be irritating to the injected areas for the next 24 hours.

Full effect from the procedure may take between 10 and 14 days. We also recommend that our clients do a follow-up visit 10 days post-treatment. You will also be able to discuss whether or not you feel an additional injection would be necessary.

And while the occurrences are rare, occasionally an infection in the area where you were injected can be possible. Some of these signs include tenderness in the area and a fever. If you’re experiencing either, please reach out to us, and we can help tell you everything you’d need to know.
